Burlesque is more than just glitz and glamour. Historically, the performance art was used to parody, caricature, or exaggeratedly imitate the social system at the time. In FIGHT THE POWER, Gilded Lily Burlesque intends to take the art of burlesque to its roots and use it as a platform for social discourse.

Race, class, and gender have always been controversial topics of conversation. Considering recent legislative and civic affairs, they come to the forefront of the public mind. Gilded Lily Burlesque has selected an extraordinary cast of performers who are ready to contest institutionalized racism, gender i...nequality, the criminalization of drugs, and environmental issues in an engaging, entertaining, and unforgettable way.

Gilded Lily Burlesque will be donating a portion of ticket sales to Innocence Project, a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
